The History of System Installer

SystemInstaller and the System Installation Suite are the product of a merger between the SystemImager project from VA Linux and the LUI project from IBM. SIS preserves the strengths of both projects and, by combining them, addresses many of the weaknesses of each.

• 5/2/2000 SystemImager 1.0 is released under GPL.
• 4/4/2001 LUI version 1.0 is released under GPL.
• 3/2001 The IBM & VA Linux teams meet, discuss and decide to merge the LUI and SystemImager projects.
• 3/29/2001 SystemInstaller & SystemConfigurator projects are created on SourceForge thereby launching the merger.
